Paid plans, prepaid credit for usage, the monthly spending cap, automatic top-ups and what happens when a payment fails.
#Plans
Free costs nothing. Pro ($15.99 a month), Scale ($49 a month) and Enterprise ($329 a month) are monthly subscriptions paid in advance; prices are in US dollars, before tax. Each plan includes generous amounts of database, files, egress, users, functions and realtime; above them you either stop (spend cap on) or pay the plan's usage rates (spend cap off). Compare them on Pricing and in Plans and limits.
#See the cost first
Every action that changes your bill shows its cost before you confirm: creating a project beyond the included ones, changing plan (with the prorated amount), turning the spend cap off, adding point-in-time recovery, adding a read replica or turning on automatic ones, preview branches and dedicated servers. The dialog also says whether your prepaid credit covers it, or how much to top up first.
#Upcoming charges
Billing and Usage show this month's charges as they happen: the plan, extra projects, each quota (used of included, charged so far, projected to the end of the month at the current rate), add-ons, and your credit after the projected usage. Each month is closed on the 1st with an itemised invoice of every line.
Billing belongs to the organization's owner. Members of an organization (see Teams and roles) never see or change its billing; their own Billing page is for their own account.
- Open Billing in the dashboard and choose a plan. Payment happens on a secure checkout page; promotion codes are accepted.
- When you switch between paid plans, the difference for the rest of the period is charged right away and the new plan applies once it is paid.
- Manage billing opens the billing portal for invoices, payment methods and cancellation.
- After cancelling, the plan runs until the end of the paid period, then your account moves to Free. Your projects and data are kept; anything above the Free limits becomes read-only until you upgrade again.
#Prepaid credit
Usage is paid from a prepaid balance, never on credit: usage above your plan's included amounts when the spend cap is off, extra projects, read replicas ($0.01 per replica-hour) and dedicated servers. It is charged as it happens, so there is never a surprise invoice.
- Add credit: $10, $25, $50 or $100, or any amount from $10 to $1,000, in US dollars. Tick Save this card to allow automatic top-ups.
- The Activity table lists credits, usage, refunds and adjustments. Plan invoices are in Manage billing.
#Monthly spending cap
The Monthly spending cap (Billing › Cap per month ($)) caps how much usage can cost per month, on top of your plan price; the default is $20. A cap up to $100 applies right away. A higher cap is reviewed by the StitchDB team first (your current cap stays until then); you get an e-mail when it is approved or declined, and you can withdraw the request. When it is reached, or your credit runs out, usage that would cost more stops: your plan's included amounts apply again until the next month (see Spend cap and usage pricing).
#Automatic top-up
With a saved card, StitchDB can add credit when your balance runs low: by default $25 whenever the balance falls below $5 (threshold $1 to $1,000). It charges at most once an hour. If a charge fails, automatic top-up pauses until you turn it on again, and you get an e-mail.
#Failed payments
- If a plan payment fails, you get an e-mail and a banner in the dashboard with a deadline 3 days later. Update your card in Manage billing.
- If the invoice is still unpaid after that, your account moves to Free limits. Nothing is deleted: projects above the Free limits become read-only.
- As soon as the invoice is paid, your plan comes back automatically.
#E-mails
You get e-mails for a new plan, credit added, a low balance, automatic replicas stopping (empty balance or cap reached), failed payments and top-ups, moving to Free limits, payment received and a subscription ending.
