Frequently asked questions
Do I need a credit card?
No. Create an account and start on the Free plan. You add a card when you upgrade.
How do limits work?
Database size is per project on every plan: each project has its own included amount. File storage, egress, monthly active users, Edge Function invocations and realtime are shared across your account. The number of included projects is per account.
What is the spend cap?
Paid plans start with the spend cap on: usage stops at the included amounts and you never pay more than the plan price. Turn it off in Billing to keep going above the included amounts at the rates shown on each plan. Enterprise starts with the spend cap off.
How are charges above the included amounts billed?
From your prepaid credit, as the usage happens, at the "then" rates shown on each plan. Sizes are billed per GB-month (a project 2 GB over for half a month pays for 1 GB), flows like egress per GB, and users and realtime connections at the month's peak. Your monthly spending limit and your credit balance always cap what can be charged; when credit runs out, the plan's limits apply again.
What happens when a project exceeds its database size?
With the spend cap on, the database becomes read-only until you free up space or upgrade, and file uploads are blocked while file storage is over. Reads keep working the whole time. With the spend cap off and credit available, nothing stops: the extra is billed.
Where are my files stored?
In EU object storage. Backups are encrypted and kept in the EU too.
How do I change plans?
In Billing. Upgrades start right away (the difference is prorated); downgrades apply from your next billing date. You always see the price change before you confirm.
Is Studio included?
Yes, on every plan. It is part of your project's dashboard.
