Create a StitchDB account, create your first project in the region of your choice and find its keys and connection details.
#Create an account
Sign up with e-mail and password (at least 8 characters, confirmed by e-mail), Google or GitHub. New accounts start on the Free plan. Under Account you can change your password (e-mail accounts), switch between light and dark mode and sign out.
#Create a project
- Click New project in the dashboard.
- Enter a project name.
- Choose a Region. Each region shows its country flag, city and country. Closest available (the default, shown with a globe) picks the server nearest to you. Regions marked Coming soon can't be chosen yet; a region marked New server gets a server prepared for it first, which takes about five minutes.
- Click Create project. The project is usually ready within seconds.
The form also shows how many projects your plan allows and how much database and file storage you have. The region decides where the database and files are stored and can't be changed later.
#Find your keys
| What | Where in the dashboard |
|---|---|
| Project URL and anon key | Project overview (Project API) and Settings → API keys |
| service_role key and JWT secret | Settings → API keys (hidden until you reveal them) |
| Database host, user, password and connection strings | Settings → Database |
| Ready-to-copy snippets (JavaScript, cURL, Postgres) | Project overview, Connect your app |
| Key | Where to use it |
|---|---|
| anon (public) | Browsers and mobile apps. Requests are limited by Row Level Security. |
| service_role (secret) | Trusted servers only. It bypasses Row Level Security and can manage users. |
| JWT secret | Verify user access tokens on your own servers. |
#Limits
The Free plan includes 2 projects per account. Paid plans allow more and raise every limit; see Plans and limits. Free projects are never paused for inactivity: unused API services stop and start again on the next request. Only projects of accounts abandoned for a year are paused; see Inactive free projects.
